Why this is different from just "doubling"

Simple multiples (2x, 3x, half) are easy to do in your head, but real serving-size needs rarely land on a clean multiple — going from 6 servings to 10, for instance, is a 1.67x scale, not a round number. This converter does that arithmetic for you (target servings divided by original servings), then applies it consistently to whatever ingredient amount you enter, so you get exact scaled amounts rather than rounding awkwardly along the way.

Practical rounding advice

Exact math is useful, but real kitchens don't always need lab precision — if the calculator gives you 1.67 cups of something, rounding to 1⅔ cups (a genuinely measurable amount) is more useful than trying to hit 1.67 exactly.
